Tips on self tanning

Hey guys sorry for the delay but as you have heard and read BrownMe has been growing much quicker than we had expected so we have been much busier than planned.

Heres a few tips on self tanning :)

Self tanning is one of the latest innovations in tanning products. While cosmetic skin darkeners have been available for many years, it has only been in recent years that these products have become "user friendly." The first self tanning products tended to be messy and caused stains in clothing, on furniture, and (not least of all) on your skin. Today's self-tanning products, on the other hand, tend to be much cleaner, easier to use, and longer lasting. You can do a few things to make sure your self-applied tan is even and lasts a long time.

The key to self tanning and having well applied self-tan is to first understand how self tanning products work. Self-tanning lotions and sprays are designed to attach themselves to the outer layer of your skin, but because your skin cells are constantly dying and being shed, your self-tan will only last about a week. Dry skin sheds faster than moist skin, so if you have dry skin or don't keep it moisturized, your tan will not last as long.

Whether you are using a self tanning product or a spray tanning booth, it is a good idea to exfoliate with a good quality exfoliant, loofah sponge or a pumice brush. Follow up this scrubbing with a good water based moisturizer, especially on the knees and elbows, which tend to be dryer than the rest of your skin. It is best to do this several hours before you apply the self-tan so that the moisturizer does not interfere with the self-tanner. Don't use lotions with oil in them or it may block the self tanning solution from penetrating your skin.

It is important to be prepared. Set aside at least a half hour to apply your self-tan, and be sure that you have a plan for how to reach all the spots where you wish to apply the product. This may mean getting a friend to help you reach your back.
